Why I'm not a fan of chewing gum!

  1. It overworks your jaw joint and jaw muscles: If you grind or clench, your jaw muscles are already under stress. Chewing gum just adds more repititve motion to an already overworked system, potentially worsening TMJ discomfort. Your jaw needs rest, not more activity.

  2. It's full of artificial stuff: Most gums are packed with artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, and sometimes sugar. Even sugar-free options contain chemicals that offer little to no health benefit.

  3. It's not the most attractive habit: This one is personal, but let's be honest, gum chewing doesn't always look great, especially in social or professional settings. It can be distracting and for some, off-putting.
